The Bravio delle Botti of Montepulciano
The Bravio delle Botti is one of the most heartfelt and spectacular traditions of Montepulciano, in the province of Siena. Every year, on the last Sunday of August, the eight districts of the city challenge each other in an exciting race: two athletes from each district push 80 kg barrels along an uphill path through the streets of the historic center, up to Piazza Grande. In addition to the race, the event includes a week of celebrations, parades in medieval costume, music and historical reenactments, transforming Montepulciano into a stage full of passion and tradition.
